Understanding Your Capital Account

What a capital account is, why carry holders have one, and how to read the figures on your Navys dashboard.

What a capital account is

Your capital account is a running ledger of your economic position in a carry vehicle. It tracks three numbers:

  • Total commitment — the amount you have agreed to contribute to the carry vehicle over its life.

  • Capital called — the amount that has actually been drawn from your commitment so far.

  • Uncalled commitment — the difference: commitment minus called. This is money you still owe and may be called on in future drawdowns.

Where to find your capital account on Navys

From the left sidebar, click Carry and go to the Overview sub-tab of your Holder dashboard.

You will see two relevant sections:

  • Capital Account — a consolidated view across all your carry vehicles, with a visual breakdown of committed / called / uncalled.

  • Capital Account by Fund — a table that breaks the numbers out by carry vehicle, showing Fund, Commitment, and Start date.

Today, the figures in your capital account are driven by drawdown notices recorded by the GP. The GP issues notices and tracks payment status; once a drawdown is marked as paid, your capital account reflects it.

In a later release, you will be able to acknowledge and act on drawdowns directly from your Activity sub-tab. See Navigating Your Holder Dashboard.
