Overview
The Navys Transfer Platform supports two transfer lifecycle actions beyond normal completion: putting a transfer on hold (temporary pause) and aborting a transfer (permanent cancellation). Both actions are restricted to a specific role and have significant effects on all participants in the transfer.
1. Who can put a transfer on hold or abort it
Organization type: Must be Investment Firm
System role: Must be Admin
Transfer role: Must be General Partner
Only an Investment Firm Admin acting as General Partner on a transfer can put a transfer on hold or abort it. This means:
GP Admin: Can put a transfer on hold, resume a held transfer, and abort a transfer.
GP User: Cannot hold or abort a transfer. The hold and abort options are not visible to GP Users.
All other roles (Transferor, Transferee, Counsel, Administrator): Cannot hold or abort a transfer. These options are not visible to any non-GP role regardless of system role.
If you are not a GP Admin and need a transfer paused or cancelled, contact the General Partner managing the transfer.
2. Putting a transfer on hold
Putting a transfer on hold temporarily pauses all activity on the transfer. This action is reversible.
The "Put on Hold" option is located on the Transfer Overview page.
When a transfer is put on hold, all transfer steps become read-only. Participants can still view documents and data, but cannot make changes.
All active participants will receive an email informing them that the transfer has been placed on hold.
3. Resuming a Held Transfer
A transfer that has been placed on hold can be resumed at any time by the GP Admin.
The "Resume Transfer" button appears on the "Transfer On Hold" banner at the top of the Transfer Overview page.
When a transfer is resumed, the transfer reverts to its active state, and all previous standard access is restored for participants.
All active participants will receive an email informing them that the transfer has resumed.
4. Aborting a Transfer
Aborting a transfer permanently cancels it. This action is irreversible.
The "Abort Transfer" option is located on the Transfer Overview page.
When a transfer is aborted, participants will be restricted to viewing only this transfer's overview page. They will no longer be able to view any documents or data or take any action.
All active participants will receive an email informing them that the transfer has been aborted.
